Where to Stay in Festac Town, Lagos: A Simple Guide
Rownez Administrator · 4 November 2026 · 4 min read
Festac Town is a planned residential town in Amuwo-Odofin, on the Lagos mainland. It was built for the 1977 World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture, which is where the name "FESTAC" comes from. Today it is a busy part of Lagos with markets, restaurants, schools and offices, and a good base if you are visiting family, attending an event on the mainland or working in the area.
What to check before you book a hotel in Festac
- The exact address. Hotels near Festac are sometimes listed under other districts. Look the address up on a map and check the street, not just the name of the area.
- Reception hours. If your flight lands late or you will be out in the evening, choose a hotel with a 24-hour front desk.
- Room types and what is in them. Air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom, a wardrobe and a work-friendly space matter more than a long list of extras.
- Wi-Fi, parking and room service. Ask whether Wi-Fi is free, whether parking is included, and when the kitchen takes orders.
- Cancellation terms. Read them before you pay, especially in December, when plans change often.
- Airport transfers. The airport is around 45 minutes away by car, depending on traffic, so ask whether the hotel can arrange a pickup.
